Months 2-6: Sustaining Momentum

The Hard Part Starts in Month 2

Month 1 is exciting; Month 2 is when momentum must carry you. Month 2 often decides whether you sustain or stall.

How to Sustain Momentum

Weekly check-in (Fri, 30 min): What did we accomplish? Next week's focus? Blockers? How does this move us toward the goal? Monthly progress review (last Fri, 1 hr): On track? What's working/not? Adjustments? One big thing for next month? Quick wins: In Month 2-3 create new wins — first dashboard live, first automated report, first decision from data. Public accountability: Tell team or peers "In 3 months we will have [deliverable]. Here's our progress." Financial commitment: Remind yourself you've already invested; see it through.

The Month 2-3 Wall

Initial excitement wears off; work is harder; results not visible yet. Get through by: acknowledging it's hard, keeping weekly/monthly cadence, celebrating small wins, remembering the goal, asking for help. Days 31-45 are the hard slog; Days 46-60 results become visible.

Red Flags

Skipped 2 check-ins → re-commit. Data built but nobody using → training, celebrate usage. Competing priorities → prioritize; say no. Waiting on one person → redistribute, no single point of failure.
